During the first 2 weeks of March, members of the Asubpeeschoseewagong (Grassy Narrows) Anishinabe community will be touring through southern Ontario and Quebec to raise awareness about their ongoing campaign for justice, dignity and self-determination on Anishinabe territory. Most recently, in December 2002, a blockade was erected in Grassy narrows to force an end to the illegal clear-cutting practices of Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. on their territories. Since that time, the defiance of the Grassy Narrows community to corporate and state colonialism has become a source of inspiration of indigenous self-determination across the continent, and around the world.
