Upping the Anti is a resource that we hope you will appropriate in your own activism and distribute in your schools, workplaces, and communities. The complete file that makes up this copy of the journal is available as a PDF file that you can download at http://auto_sol.tao.ca/node/view/1277. We are compiling a list of official distributors for Upping the Anti, who we will keep in regular contact with and whose emails we will make public on our website so you can get in touch with them for a copy of the journal in your own community. If you would like to be an official distributor for Upping the Anti, please fill out the form on our website and download the PDF of the journal.
For the purposes of distribution, this journal can be reproduced in the following easy steps.
1.) Download and print the two PDF files on our website that make up the journal (the cover and the main text for the journal) at http://auto_sol.tao.ca/node/view/1084.
2.) On a photocopier make however many copies of the single sided cover file you need onto cardstock paper.
3.) Take the first two pages of the “guts” of the journal, select the double sided option on the copier, and run them through the copier so that the text on both sides of the page reads from top to bottom in same direction on both page. With the test successful, put the 60 pages of the “guts” of the journal on the photocopier with the double sided option on and make as many copies of it as you need.
4.) Take the collated copies you have made to a copy shop, place the covers so that they are in front of the copied “guts” of the journal, and have the pages cut in half along the dotted line in the middle of each page. (Important: don’t try to do this yourself with a handheld paper cutter as you won’t be able to cut the pages cleanly, get it done at a copy shop with an industrial cutting machine). Now bring the cut halves of the copies together and get the journal bound with a Cerlox binding or another form of binding.
Note: When copied you can also fold the journal together, using staples or an elastic band to hold it together, although if you use this option you should also get the outside vertical edge of the journal trimmed with an industrial cutting machine so the pages don’t stick out unevenly.
5.) While we do not require it, we would appreciate it if people making copies and distributing the journal send us 50 cents to a dollar per issue that they sell so we improve the quality of the journal, pay for mailing costs, phone conferences, and move towards full color covers and better bindings.
